FREEDOM FROM PAIN :

Stretch and Excercise, Good Posture helps back.

Clinical Example 1 …(real person).
Jennifer was referred to my office with severe low back pain and radiating type pain into her lower extremities. She is 28 years ago and is a non smoker/non drinking secretary at a local eye surgeon’s office.

The patients history was basically of a normal medical history but notes that she has been a dancer who has had ‘low back episodes which have usually gone away on their own’. She is approximately 30 pounds overweight and has been to 2 Orthopedists and a ‘Pain Specialist’ run by a Neurological Group for this severe flare up which occurred about two months ago. She underwent and presented me with a diagnostic scan which revealed a large herniated disc with considerable neurological condition. The Doctors offered surgery as the only option presented for her at that time. She was on large doses of narcotics, as well.

Simply put, the patient could not walk, sit or stand without severe pain which she rated at 9 out of a possible 10. The normal diagnostic checks could not be performed due to the instability that she exhibited. She grimaced with every movement of her body.

Following my work up, I went to work targeting the muscles which surround and support the spine. With daily treatment and having her perform stretches and exercises at home, she was functioning well in 3 weeks and pain free in 6 weeks. She has been back to see me 2 or 3 times for ‘touch-ups’ and a Chiropractic Adjustment.

Clinical Example 2.
This Patient who is a 58 year old male is assisted into my office by his 2 brothers. He cannot sit nor lie on a treatment table. Every movement from his body spells pain. During a standing consultation he reveals a long history of neck conditions including arthritic spurring, herniated discs and 2 unsuccessful surgeries including a spinal fusion. He is treated by a pain specialist who performs regimens of epidural steroidal injections and has a suitcase full of narcotics including oxycontin. This patient has lost his family due to his inability to retain employment due to the pain syndrome and a growing anger problem which he tells me is part of his depression. He states becoming a recluse who has basically not been able to function in a normal capacity.

Obviously, this case is much more complicated than the first example, but the pain syndrome was about the same. The treatment for this case consisted of outside professionals who helped him overcome his dependency. The physical treatment course was about the same (as example #2) , obviously treating different areas of the spine. This man has returned to his work as a general contractor and has been reunited with his family. He works out at his local gym 3-4 times a week and last week ‘Marched for Diabetes’ raising the money for the disease which was responsible for the death of his father.

Clinical Example 3.
Real person again! There was a Doctor of Chiropractic (age 42) who was playing competitive racquetball. He had gained an excess 25 pounds and was doing no other exercising or stretching. One morning he could not arise from his bed due to a severe low back pain which inhibited his every body movement, especially forward bending (from the waist). Following the onset of this awful onset, he did what would have been expected and sought the help/care from the neighboring Chiropractors. He performed all of the self help care which he had at his disposal, and tried a host of holistic cures to find answers/relief.

Frustrated without any results, he sought the opinions from the finest local Medical Doctors who specialize in pain management. The usual MRI and diagnostic tests were performed, all of which pointes to surgery as the only option in overcoming the effects. Another alternative was Spinal Epidurals under Fluoroscopy. In a nutshell nothing worked leaving this lonely Chiropractor no choice but to sell his practice.

All of the contracts had been drawn up and just before the final signature was necessary to close the deal, the Dr. heard of a program offered in accordance with a major university and run by a prominent Neurosurgeon who threw away his scalpel preaching this new approach. The frustrated Chiropractor underwent 30 days of this approach and became 70%-80% pain free. He was then contracted by the Neurosurgeon to integrate the Chiropractic into the system making it even more dynamic.

Well, you guessed it…the Chiropractor mentioned, is me, and the approach which I want to share with you was designed during my most difficult time, to save me from the all (severe) effects of this syndrome. Today, I am 100% pain free and as strong as I’ve ever been. I’m back to an even bigger case load in my office. I work out nearly everyday and stretch as a normal activity in my busy day(s). I invite you to follow my video clips, blog and website to learn more about overcoming this devastating ailment. I will show you how to approach your pain syndrome. We will rate your pain and perform periodic checks to chart your progress. I will also keep you apprised on what activities are expected of you at your current level. I want to thank you for your time and support.

Respectfully, in the best of Health and Happiness,

End Pain

Eat Right and Stay Fit

I developed The Freedom from Food Plan in response to my patients who had previously been unsuccessful in losing weight using diets and calorie counting measures. The plan worked so well, I expanded it to my ‘chronic pain patients’ and soon realized that their relief was dramatically affected for the better. I also found that their flexibility and strength increased rapidly, as well. With the added strength, now their chance for relapse has been substantially lessened.

The Freedom from Food plan is purely a common sense approach with a twist, which sets it apart from anything else that you have heard of. I t can be used by anyone. It works because we isolate foods which we are stuck on, or plainly stated, give us the most trouble. We understand our strengths/ weaknesses and then use a group approach in overcoming the obstacles which have been responsible for our previous failures. I invite you to join along with us in overcoming your weight issues and start enjoying your Freedom from Food.
